This week at Afit Commercial Exeter, we've been celebrating women in construction. This year's theme is, 'Keys to the Future.'
What does 'Keys to the Future' mean?
The theme "Keys to the Future" is a reminder of the critical role that women play in shaping the future of our world. Women have the potential to unlock new opportunities and create positive change in the world. The keys to the future represent the tools that women need to unlock their potential and achieve their goals.
Our team at Afit Commercial Exeter is integral to our business. Izzy and Emma are two of our team members who have years of experience in the construction industry and thoroughly enjoy their work. As we celebrate Women in Construction Week, we asked them about their roles and what they love about working at Afit.
Emma- Project Manager
Emma has been working for us for over 5 years. She is a vital team member. We asked Emma a few questions about her role.
Why do you enjoy working at Afit?
I find it fulfilling to assist with delivering projects that are required, overseeing them from the initial surveying stages to their ultimate completion.
Why did you choose construction as a career?
I love being able to interact with different businesses and individuals, especially when dealing with clients and other contractors and meeting new people.
What aspects of working in construction do you find most enjoyable?
I really enjoy the daily workload and challenges. No two days are often the same, as the projects can differ significantly in size and scale, duration, and the actual work required within each project.
Izzy- Accounts Manager
Why do you enjoy working at Afit?
Everyone is so lovely, easy to get on with, and the office environment is great. I have also been given so many opportunities to further my development and grow in my role and make it my own.
Why did you choose construction as a career?
I almost fell into this career, but I'm glad I did, as it has ended up being a really fulfilling career. I feel there is more variety in construction than in other workplaces, as my tasks vary so much from day to day.
What aspects of working in construction do you find most enjoyable?
I enjoy seeing a different side of working in accounts than expected, and having so much variety in the works that we do. All the engineers are so lovely whenever we see them
and are easy to get along with.
